YILDIZ PALACE – COACHMEN’S QUARTERS
The Coachmen’s Quarters building is located within the Yıldız Palace complex, in parcel no. 1 of block 232 in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. The structure was built during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II (1876–1909), along with the surrounding buildings. It is bordered to the north by the Armory, to the south by the Carriage House, and to the west by a stone wall and the Outer Guardhouse. The main façade of the building faces the courtyard of Yıldız Palace. Historical records do not provide information regarding the architect of the building.
Constructed with brick material, the building has two stories and a rectangular plan extending in the north-south direction. The façade layout gives the impression of being a continuation of the Armory Building, while the interior spaces are designed with a rather simple approach. The building has a footprint of 723 m² and a total usable area of approximately 1,440 m².
Originally built to accommodate the palace coachmen, the building was later used during the Republican era as part of the service unit for the Military Academies.
As ALBA İnşaat, we completed the restoration of the structure between 2018 and 2022.
